Entering a family into the shelter program
1. Welcome the Family
- Greet the family warmly and make them feel comfortable.
2. Tour of the Day Center
- Show the family around the Day Center.
- Explain that the Day Center operates from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM depending on volunteer availability.
3. Day Center Rules
- Cooking No cooking is allowed; only warming up food is permitted.
- Refrigerator Usage
- Families should label anything they don’t want others to touch.
- Remind them to clean up after themselves.
4. Shelter House Hours
- The Shelter House is open from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
5. Shelter House Rules
Shower Sign-Up -Families must sign up for showers to ensure everyone has access to the bathroom.
Cleanliness- Emphasize the importance of cleaning up after themselves.
6. Introduction to Laura
- Introduce the family to Shelter Lead.
- Explain Shelter Lead’s role at the shelter and how she can assist them
